Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
Leggo of my eggo! xD
Yup. I remember how my burn scabbed up. It got infected because a certain SOMEONE who is supposedly a nurse decided not to cover it up with anything. To make a long story short, it was disgusting.

Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
Wtf... she didn't cover it up?
Me being curious asking disturbing questions:
Me being curious asking disturbing questions:
- Spoiler:
- Was it first, second or third degree?
Did she just go, "Okay, blah blah," and send you on your way?
Generally if it's first or second it's somewhat okay to leave it open, but not all the time. Wounds need oxygen to heal and bandaging all the time makes that more difficult.
But all things depending, if she wasn't going to cover it, she should have instructed you to wash it several times a day.
I generally go about 50/50. Cover for about 50% and then leave it open so it can get oxygen.
Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
No, she didn't...Even though the doctor said to cover it up with a patch thing so it wouldn't become infected. Oh, and to put a certain cream on it.
- Spoiler:
I believe it was second, though I'm not entirely sure.
She ripped off the patch I already had on and said, "Oxygen's good for it." Or something along those lines.
Oh, it would have probably worked out just fine to leave it open...If I was ever allowed inside. This was in a small town where we would walk everywhere along gravel roads where dirt and dust was always in the air.

Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
- Spoiler:
Yeah, in that situation the only time to leave it unwrapped (because oxygen does help) would be while you were sleeping, that would give it a good 8 hours of oxygen time.
But if you're wandering around in dirt and dust, man, what a moron.
Not to mention she shouldn't have been going against what the doctor had said. o.O
There are situations when a nurse should be, "Are you sure?" but that sure as hell isn't one of them. xD
And infections are nasty, I got one with a cut I had. It was hideous.
Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
- Spoiler:
- Actually, I think the patch would have fallen off in my sleep anyway. But I think the doctor did say something about leaving it off at night.
Yup. My step-mom who is supposedly a nurse is a dummy.
My infection could have killed me. O_O Oh, geez...Nothing wakes you up like a sudden pain in your leg that hurts so bad you can't even think about moving... With puss leaking out of it and everything...

Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
- Spoiler:
- Oh, so THAT'S why she overrode the doctor, because she was being a know it all and trying to be motherly or something.
Yeah, infections are a bitch. They can gangrene you up and kill your skin and nerves, oh, and just generally kill you.
Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
- Spoiler:
- Let's just say my step-mom's a meanie poopy and leave it at that. Seriously, she's done far worse things than that during the times we'd come out to visit.
Yup. If Mom didn't rush me to the doctor, I might not be here right now.

Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
- Spoiler:
- Sheesh, it sounds like someone needs to go to remedial nursing school.
Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
I think we're making blinq feel a little left out here.
- Spoiler:
- She insists she's a nurse, but she really only works at a nursing home. But she still should know to NOT DISOBEY THE DOCTOR'S ORDERS!

Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
She's the queasy type, that's why we hide it from her.
- Spoiler:
- xDDD So she's basically possibly a CNA and cleans up old people's shit and piss.
Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
Yeah. ^^ You do realize she read that, right?

- Yeah, I wish.

Re: Turnabout H.U.G. vr. 7
xD Wait, what?
- Spoiler:
- Well, working at a nursing home, that's what her job entails. Then again, I'm not sure if you even have to have nurse certification to do so. I'd think at least probably a CNA, then again, if she had a CNA she should know she was being moronic. -.-

- Spoiler:

No surprise though, apparently nursing home care is notorious for being negligent and stuff.

Yeah, that's what the spoiler tags are for. xD
Wuss. Seeing people who have been shot in the hand with a .45 caliber is fascinating.

Hey, NS. *Hugs*
- Spoiler:
- Apparently, she's not negligent. Still, though, I have a first-hand experience with nursing home negligence. My grandpa had to be put in a nursing home. So did my grandma for a short amount of time. Oh the stories they had on the matter.
