oh wow... uh, to... cut the synopsis really short...
It's about a little war before the big revolutionary war in France that wasn't successful... and centers around a man named Jean Valjean, who steals a loaf of bread and goes to jail for like... 7 years, or something like that for doing so... and this cop named Javert who is totally obsessed with putting him back in jail... and Valjean promises this woman that he'll take care of her daughter (Cosette) so he does that... and changes his identity, etc.
