When does it open? And what do you do there? I never really got the gist of it.

Yeah Pottermore is kind of hard to explain. You kind of go through the story and you see what's happening to Harry and what not, but at the same time you can interact with parts of the story like getting a wand and getting sorted and what not. Right now it's only in beta so I don't know what else is going to be there eventually. As far as I know it opens in October.
